How to unlock a locked door with a hole.

This method works on doors with privacy handles locked by pushing a button in the door handle. Fabricate an appropriate pick for the round hole straighten a wire coat hanger or paper clip to unlock the door. Insert a very thin screwdriver into the hole in the middle of the doorknob. Use a small screwdriver or thin tool on interior doors.

Push an eyeglasses screwdriver a paper clip hammered flat or a very small butter knife into this hole. This can be done in multiple ways. Another way to unlock a door without a key is to simply work on making the door and its accompanying door lock somewhat irrelevant. Once the clip is straight position the straight end inside the hole on the outside of the doorknob.

After you do this push the paperclip s tip into the hole. If you push in far enough the button will depress and the lock will disengage. When this happens a small button inside the locking mechanism presses against a bar which in turn pops the lock to the unlocked or open position. If you re locked on the other side look for a tiny hole on the doorknob.

Push the door so that the gap between the doorframe and the locked door is as wide as possible. Inside is a small button that needs to be pushed to unlock the door. Alternatively you could use a wire clothes hanger as well. Using minimal force push the clip into the hole until you hear a light click or pop sound.
